Description: Jul 22, 2002; Universal City, CA, USA; BRUCE PALTROW, father of Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and writer-producer-director of such classic TV series as The White Shadow and St. Elsewhere, died Wednesday night in Italy. He was 58. His daughter's publicist, Steven Huvane, confirmed that Paltrow passed away suddenly due to complications from pneumonia and a recurrence of throat cancer. According to Entertainment Tonight's Website, Paltrow took ill while vacationing with Gwyneth in the Italian region of Tuscany, in celebration of her 30th birthday. He was airlifted by helicopter to Rome where he died in a local hospital.
